DO I NEED A RESERVATION?

You do not need a reservation for open walk in hours. Although on Saturday/Sunday /holidays the shop can get busy, each table seats 4 guests. So, if you know how many you want to come in with, and what time, you could call or text to make a reservation. But it’s not required.

DO I NEED TO BE ARTISTIC?

Nope, I consider myself a copycat artist, meaning I take ideas from what others have done and put my own twist on it! I use color book pages to copy ideas, Pinterest, whatever I can find that I love to try and duplicate in my own way. You can do the same, and I’ll show you how to make simple designs out of ordinary things. On the other hand, you can be an amazing artist and come in and take hours on a single coffee cup, but ceramics and pottery are good for any skill level.

HOW DO BIRTHDAY PARTIES WORK?

Pine’s Pottery requires a $50 deposit that goes towards a minimum purchase of $250. The deposit is refundable if the party is rescheduled or cancelled within 24 hours. You receive 2 hours of private studio time for up to 12 guests. The cost is determined by which pieces your group chooses to glaze. You can have complete control of this process by pre-picking pieces or let them go wild and choose whatever they want! (The cost will be tallied, and if under $250, the difference will be charged) The easiest way to get the most out of your party money is to divide the number of guests by $250 to find out the average cost each piece could be, to be as close as possible. You can bring décor, cupcakes, and/or snacks. There is a full size fridge and freezer that you can use. We have a four-foot blow-up cake that is placed out by the door (weather permitting), and an extra table is brought out for dessert and gifts. Message or call to reserve your event today.

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO DO THIS?

Any age can enjoy ceramics and pottery. Ages 1-109! Sometimes, though, the younger they are the faster they lose interest. So around age 5 they start to really love it, and by age 8 or 9 they start to really take their time!

CAN I USE YOUR KILN?

At this time, I do not rent out my kiln. Possibly at a later date this will be something to consider.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO OPEN A POTTERY SHOP?

After 20 years in healthcare, I decided that I wanted to make a change. I wanted to spend the second half of my working career being creative and having fun with other people in a happier environment. I have always been into creating new things, sewing, crocheting, building, just creating in general. Also, I love people, and especially the people in my community. I wanted to bring something fun and affordable to do, without having it steer towards one gender or age group. After running my ice cream business, Pine’s Sweets & Treats, for three years, it gave me the courage to jump into something bigger, and Pine’s Pottery was next!

WHEN WILL YOU HAVE A WHEEL?

My goal is to have a larger space, at the same location, completed and move the shop into that space. It will be roomier, and I’ll have more space for a couple of wheels and hand building clay classes. This is a goal to have done within the next year or so, at that time, there will still be lots of ceramics to pick and paint!

DO YOU DO TO GO KITS?

I do offer to go kits, you can come in, pick the piece, and glaze colors, take home to create, and bring back to be fired! Or, you can call me, we can pick your piece/pieces together over the phone, add your colors, and you can pick up anytime.

WILL YOU COME TO MY HOUSE TO DO A PARTY?

Sure, I do to go kits at the Senior Center, Rainier School, and even house parties. You can pre pick pieces and glaze colors, and host right at your house! Minimum purchase required.

WHAT OTHER CLASSES DO YOU OFFER?

Once a month we have local watercolor artist Julie Goetz teach an amazing watercolor class, also, once a month we have our local acrylic artists, Becci & Josh Kolkow, come and teach an acrylic piece. All supplies are included, and you leave with a sense of accomplishment and its so fun! Come see what you can do! No experience required.

CAN WE HAVE DRINKS AT THE SHOP?

I sell snacks and beverages at the shop, but you are welcome to bring in your own drinks and snacks if you’d like. You can eat and drink at the tables but, I do not allow alcohol at this time. Thank you for understanding.

DOES THE GLAZE STAIN?

The glazes are all Nontoxic and do not stain clothing or skin. They are easy to wash off and completely kid and adult friendly.

CAN I EAT OFF THIS WHEN IM DONE?

The pieces that are designed to be used as dishes will be food safe. Each coffee cup or plate is clear coated for durability. Once fired, these pieces are food safe and ready to go.

CAN I PUT MUGS/PLATES IN THE DISHWASHER/MICROWAVE?

Unfortunately, they don’t recommend the dishwasher or microwave, but that is always ultimately up to you! With that being said, I have had a favorite cup chip in the dishwasher, and I was pretty sad.
